2010 Paddy Pallin 6hr Event
"Tidbinbillagaine" - 2010 Paddy Pallin 6hr Event, Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve - 2 May 2010
This year’s Paddy Pallin 6 hour rogaine was held out at Tidbinbilla on the 2nd of May. It was a glorious Autumn day with not a breath of wind or a cloud to be seen- perfect weather for the admin team to be lying around while everyone else was slogging around in the bush! We had 180 participants including 3 teams of young scouts. There were plenty of babies within the admin team at the hash as well, great to see the future of rogaining in the making.
Ian Booth and Bob Hawkins did well to take out the men’s open as well as veteran and super veteran categories. Seems age is no excuse in this sport! Anne Sawkins and Sue Quayle similarly took out the women’s veteran and super veteran section. It seemed to be a day for double winnings with Anna and Rebecca Hyslop taking out the women’s open as well as the family category, and Ron Simpson and Jean Douglass taking out the mixed veteran and super vet categories. Overall winners of the event and mixed open were Julie Quinn and David Baldwin with a score of 1110. It seemed if the committee members weren’t volunteering on the day, they were winning categories!
On the whole it was a great day with David Moore, a first-time setter, doing a fabulous job on the course. There was lots of wild life to be seen with a few emus even visiting the hash house. Thanks to all the participants and the volunteers for making it such a great day.
